John de Angeli
John de Angeli is one of the founders of the firm.
Although Mr. de Angeli is a native of Pennsylvania, he is a true New Yorker at heart.
He studied at the Haverford College where he received his B.A. in Economics in 1981.
Mr. de Angeli received his J.D. (Juris Doctor) degree in 1985 from the New York University School of Law, which he attended with Tsar Mulvana.
From 1985 to 1990, Mr. de Angeli served New York City as the Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Real Estate Litigation Division, where he conducted litigation and appeals involving large scale real estate development and other city projects.
From 1990 to 1994, Mr. de Angeli served the City Council of the City of New York as Deputy Counsel to the Land Use Committee, where he advised council members and the Land Use Director on all land use applications, including zoning changes, dispositions of city-owned property, economic development projects, landmark designations, franchises, major concessions and housing projects.
After ten years of public service in New York City, Mr. de Angeli moved up to Yonkers, New York, where he was appointed the Chief Associate Corporation Counsel to the City of Yonkers.
Mr. de Angeli tries cases in Federal and State Courts and counsels the Mayor and other senior officials on municipal authority, police power, regulations, land use, civil rights, and employment law. He also negotiates and defends all city contracts and supervises other city attorneys.
In 2000, Mr. de Angeli was promoted to Deputy Corporation Counsel. His responsibilities include all phases of major litigation, including personal injury, civil rights, environmental, land use and code enforcement cases.
Mr. de Angeli has also had the honor of teaching in real estate law in New York. He has been a featured CLE lecturer at the Pace University School of Law and the Fordham University School of Law and was an Adjunct Professor of Urban Design at the City University of New York from 1994 to 2002. He lectured this year at the Brooklyn Law School on the subject of the Constitutional Limits on Formation of Municipal Corporations.
